Exactly what IS computing, the internet, and e-space?

The computer revolution caused by digital information technology has two main components:

First, writing, which has always been a matter of physical marks on a physical surface, instead takes the form of electronic codes.

Since the computer handles writing, images, sounds, and animation is essentially the same electronic codes, all become roughly equivalent forms of text and can be integrated easily.

Second, the new IT requires that computers join together to form series of networks, thus permitting the defining characteristics of digital text to appear.

Networked computers form e-space -- the electronic or virtual "space" of electronic textuality. The sum of all computers connected together is the internet. Machines come and go, change their names, and no one knows exactly how many machines are the internet at any one time.

How does this networked electronic writing demand different paradigms for learning, business, entertainment, community?
